• Belur Math:
  • The Belur Math was founded by Swami Vivekananda, a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, in 1897. It was established as a place for spiritual retreat, learning, and the promotion of the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. 
  • The architecture of Belur Math is a blend of various styles, including Hindu, Islamic, and Christian elements, reflecting the universal message of harmony and tolerance promoted by Swami Vivekananda. The main temple at the complex is dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and it houses his relics. 
  • The central temple, known as the "Sri Ramakrishna Temple," is a majestic structure with soaring towers and intricate carvings. It is designed to represent a blend of various architectural styles from different regions of India.
• Dakshineswar Kali Temple:
  • The temple is situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River (a distributary of the Ganges River) in the Dakshineswar locality, about 12 kilometers north of Kolkata's city center. The temple complex is known for its distinctive architectural style, with a central temple dedicated to Goddess Kali and a series of smaller temples dedicated to other deities.
  • The main temple is a large, five-spired structure with a traditional Bengali-style "Nava Ratna" (nine-spired) design. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Kali, often depicted as a fierce form of the Divine Mother. The idol of Goddess Kali in the temple is made of black stone and stands on the chest of Lord Shiva, another form of the Divine.
