  • The first stop is Wat Huay Pla Kang Temple, also known as the Big Buddha of Chiang Rai. This impressive temple complex features a massive Buddha statue, a nine-floor pagoda, and a beautiful white temple. Located about five miles north of Chiang Rai city center, the scale of this site is truly massive.

  • Next, visit the Chiang Rai Clock Tower, one of the province’s most unique attractions. This elaborate structure stands out with its golden design and distinctive artistry. During the day, its vibrant gold color is eye-catching, while in the evening it comes alive with a light and sound show at 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00. The combination of laser lights, music, and the lively city atmosphere filled with motorbikes, tuk tuks, and cars makes this a must-visit experience.

The market also features affordable goods and hill tribe crafts such as knitted scarves, embroidered bags, silver jewelry, bedspreads, wallets, fashion accessories, T-shirts, sneakers, and unique handicrafts.
  • Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is a great place to experience the local way of life. In addition to shopping, the bazaar has two outdoor stages for cultural performances and a beer garden. There is also a food court where your local host will help select bites and dinner for the evening, including options such as hot pot mixes based on your food preferences. You will find plenty of food choices, making it easy to sample a wide variety of flavors.
  • Beers are available in local varieties only and are at the customer’s own expense.
  • Around the edge of the main seating area, approximately 40 to 50 small stalls sell an incredible variety of food. In true Thai style, adventurous eaters can even try deep-fried insects.
